We are renouned for ‘big skies’ due to the flatness of the land, our many beaches are great for long walks or sitting and enjoying the sun.
Woodbridge
A nearby market town which in 2018 became a finalist of The Great British High Street Awards offering a variety of shops and coffee houses. You can also take walks along the River Deben at Woodbridge Tide Mill. You can experience one of the first tide mills in the country, operating for over 800 years and is probably one of the last ones to be working. See the large oak water wheel turning and discover how the grain and flour move around the mill.
Rendlesham Forest
Has plenty of circular walks and cycle trails, becoming well known since December 1980 for a series of UFO sightings.
Framlingham
Home to Ed Sheeran, is another of our market towns also has its own castle built in the late 12th century. Once a fortress with towering walls, it was here that Mary Tudor was proclaimed Queen of England. You can walk the tower walls and see the beautiful views.
Minsmere
Discover some of the UK’s rarest wildlife and family friendly activities. Head to the coastal lagoons to see an impressive varietly of birds including avocets, bearded tits, bitterns and maybe even an otter.
Snape Maltings
Brings together outstanding concerts and events, many distinctive independent shops, cafes and galleries set against a breath-taking expanse of reeds, water and sky.
